2010 VHS Scholarship Program |
VHS is pleased to announce our third annual scholarship program for graduating high school seniors of the class of 2010.
VHS will award two $1000 scholarships and two $500 scholarships.
This year’s scholarship provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate the power of media as a tool to communicate and inform. VHS courses combine teacher facilitated learning with student-to-student learning experiences. We strive to expand the learning experience by connecting students from diverse backgrounds and communities, providing a window into different points of view on issues.
This “global perspective” is the central theme of this year’s scholarship program. Specifically, we would like you to produce a multimedia presentation using video or still digital images with audio narration that addressed the following question -
In what way has your VHS involvement helped you to gain a global perspective?
You may refer to a specific event, conversation or issue that you encountered in your VHS course. You must include first hand information regarding your experience in your VHS class/classes and include comments from each of the following: at least one other student, your VHS site coordinator, and your VHS teacher. You may include others in your presentation if you choose.
All submissions must be limited to no more than three minutes in duration. Submissions must be multimedia presentations, and must be in one of the following formats: Quicktime (.mov), Windows Media (.wmv), or DVD video. You may also use Powerpoint (.ppt). You may choose to submit individually or with other students. Awards for group submissions (either $500 or $1000) will be divided equally between the members of the group.
