Teachers Learning Conference (TLC)

Course Description

The Teachers Learning Conference (TLC) prepares face-to-face classroom teachers to become online course developers and instructors with VHS. TLC introduces the pedagogy and methodology each participant needs to build an effective VHS NetCourse from scratch. Each participant receives instruction on how to create an online course using VHS's course delivery software and how to moderate the completed course effectively.

Learning Objectives

TLC creates high quality online courses to be offered to the VHS student population. An experienced facilitator is assigned to each TLC participant to provide one-on-one support during the course creation process. Facilitators monitor each participant's progress, grade assignments, provide feedback on course creation, and act as a mentor to participants. Participants learn to moderate online courses effectively by moderating TLC group discussions, working with their facilitator to capture the "voice" they wish to portray within their course, critiquing other participant's courses and voices, and visiting active VHS courses to see online moderation in action.

Participation Requirements

The TLC is a 22-week NetCourse that runs every year from mid-October through mid-March. Participants take the course entirely over the Internet and should expect fifteen to twenty hours of coursework per week. Participants are required to login and post to class at least four times per week.

Graduate Credit

This course is eligible for twelve graduate credits from Plymouth State University.

Apply to take the TLC

Fully participating schools must choose a professional development option for their participating teachers. Schools interested in sponsoring and developing a new course offering can either contact us to discuss possible course options, or apply to take TLC.
